Baked Pears in Honey-Mint Sauce

To make these baked pears in honey-mint sauce, be sure to adjust the baking time according to how ripe the pears are. This recipe actually works better with hard, less ripe pears.

Diet: Gluten-free, Vegetarian

Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 50 Minutes
Total Time: 1 Hour and 5 Minutes
Servings: 4 (one pear per person)

Ingredients:

  • 4 pears
  • 6 stems fresh mint
  • 4 Tbsp honey
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom
  • salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.

  2. Halve each pear, core, then make a series of parallel cuts starting about an inch from the stem end in order to allow the pear to fan out.

  3. Place pears in a baking dish lined with mint, drizzle honey over pears, then place a pat of butter on each pear half. Top with cinnamon and cardamom and about ¼ t salt (yes, salt).

  4. Bake for 20-50 minutes until softened, basting every 10 minutes in order to glaze the pears.

  5. Serve warm or at room temperature.
