Why the Gilmore Car Museum Belongs on Your Bucket List

You don't need to be a gearhead to love the Gilmore Car Museum — but it helps. This 90-acre campus in Southwest Michigan turns vintage vehicles into something magical.

We've sent countless guests here over the years. Every single one comes back smiling and with stories to share. You’ll find 400 classic cars and motorcycles, and other fun surprises. There's a 1941 diner, a recreated dealership row, and a retro gas station.

You'll find plenty of vintage charm in every detail. It's like stepping into history with chrome bumpers, soft curves, whitewalls, and polished memories.

They say the museum tells America's story through automobiles. We think it tells a love story, too. So, when you're ready for a day of nostalgia, we know the perfect place to send you.

What to Expect at the Gilmore Car Museum

📅 Wednesday Nights: 5–8pm, May through September

Guests love the Gilmore Car Museum Cruise-In! It's held every Wednesday evening in summer and fall.

Bring your classic car or admire chrome beauties from friendly locals and visiting collectors. Each season brings fresh events and hands-on fun. Ride the Classics is a guest favorite.

You can also try the Model T Driving Experience — it's an experience you’ll never forget. Mark your calendar for Vintage Motorcycle Weekend or the DeutscheMarques Oktoberfest and Color Tour.

Must-See Gilmore Car Exhibits

Each year, the Gilmore Car Museum presents fresh exhibits highlighting different eras of automotive design. You'll see everything from muscle cars, sports models, and retro favorites.

Born to Perform Exhibit at Gilmore

"Born to Perform: The Era of the Muscle Car" is more than a favorite; it’s a thrill! This permanent exhibit features the boldest and most iconic machines from the golden age of horsepower.

Step into the Larry and Earlene Baum Muscle Car Gallery and feel your heart race. Check out the Chevelles, Camaros, GTOs, Chargers, Mustangs, and Corvettes. They're all in the showroom and in driving condition.

This exhibit captures the raw energy and rebellious spirit that made muscle cars legendary. Ask us about timing your visit to high-octane exhibits and special displays that turn heads (and hearts).

Can't-Miss Annual Gilmore Events

We love helping guests plan a getaway around the museum's most exciting seasonal celebrations. The events begin in May with recurring weekly Ride the Classics events. Then, the Mad Dogs & Englishmen British Auto Faire follows in July. The latter event features over 350 stunning British classics.

In August, Relix Riot highlights hot rods, customs, and vintage Americana with a bold attitude. Who doesn't love a sexy hot rod? They’re wildly romantic! This event pairs well with a weekend wrapped in romance, horsepower, and chrome.

If you love all things vintage, you're going to love September! Plan for Vintage Motorcycle Weekend at the museum. It's two days packed with chrome, engines, and leather jackets.

Of course, later that month, Ford Model A Days comes into play. That is a celebration of one of America's most beloved vintage vehicles.

Finally, we can't forget October's DeutscheMarques Oktoberfest. This event combines German engineering, gorgeous Southwest Michigan fall color tours, and Bavarian charm.

Tell us what excites you most. Then we'll time your enchanting getaway with the perfect Gilmore Car Museum event.
