Celebrating 25th Anniversary with Michigan Getaway Specials

It’s our 25th anniversary since we first purchased what was to become Castle in the Country B&B. A lot has changed about our building and property, but the constant has been our amazing guests who return for special celebrations or last minute getaways and remind us why we love being Innkeepers.

In honor of our Silver anniversary, we’d like to pass along a gift to our guests.

So many of our guests are curious about the history of our lovely 109 year old Castle building and the origin of the Castle Keep. The Castle was built by John H. Wurtz, a wealthy gentleman from Pennsylvania. He’d made his fortune in the railroad, and decided to purchase this land and the original farmhouse as his summer property. He met and married Caroline Odell from a nearby farm. Caroline convinced him to build the Queen Anne Victorian home for her, now the three story Castle building.

Herb and Ruth Boven are the 6th owners of the property. They renovated the Castle back to its former glory while raising their two children starting in 1990.
The Castle Keep and back 60 acres of land were purchased in 2004 adding 5 more guest rooms and lakeside property to the Castle Kingdom.

Everyone loves a good Before and After, so here’s a few of our favorites. We strive to grow our business by improving and adjusting to trends year by year. Here’s a few examples:
