Redecorating and Renaming our Guest Rooms

To celebrate our 21st year of Innkeeping  here at Castle in the Country Bed and Breakfast Inn and the renovation makeover we completed, we’re re-naming all of the rooms/suites in the Castle.  We’ve given them a name that suits their new decor and hints at the ambiance we think you’ll connect with when you stay in them.

English Rose Suite to Kingdom Suite-

After

Floral wall paper was removed in the sitting room and replaced with the stunning Sapphire blue walls.  Accent colors of ruby red and gold produce just the right spark of
elegance and the Emerald green tiled fireplace surround becomes  a dramatic focal point spotlighted with new Halogen lights.  The damask covered recliners provide a great space for relaxing and enjoying the Flat Screen TV/DVD.  The 2 person Whirlpool tub and wood burning fireplace have always made this suite a favorite, but this newly renovated space is now an even more beautiful and spacious retreat from which to enjoy the entire Castle in the Country Kingdom.

Bittersweet Suite to Royalty Suite

After removing the stripe and floral wallpaper, the walls were painted a dreamy soft blue which plays beautifully against the warm wood tones of the antique queen-sized bedroom furniture.  With its patterned oak hardwood floor and an intricately plastered ceiling, this room has amazing quality details and fits the description of a “Perfect mix of Modern and Vintage”.  It features a Flat Screen TV/DVD; Whirlpool tub for two; fireplace; and a comfortable sitting area. Located in the bay windows surrounded by floor to ceiling copper-colored draperies guests can curl up with a good book or watch a movie on the two love seats.

Heron Suite to Crowning Suite-After stripping the wallpaper, the entire suite was painted a classic parchment color.  The new French doors between the bath and bedroom allow for privacy and still enable guests to watch the wood burning fireplace while enjoying the 2 person whirlpool tub.  The bath features new tile floors in earthy colors of brown and gold that compliment the original hardwood floors of the room. Black king sized bed, dresser and a Gentleman’s Chest provide dramatic furnishings and two comfy chairs with a marble top table provide the ideal spot for sharing a glass of wine or dinner in your room.  The Crowning Suite features a Flat Screen TV/DVD and its position on the 3rd floor of the Castle allows a view of the stars through skylights.

Guests who are returning for another visit to Castle in the Country often ask “what’s New since we were here last?” My usual response is, “let’s go for a tour and you tell me.”  Our guests know I love to decorate and as a result we regularly change out comforters, coverlets, furniture, lamps and accessories in a constant effort to keep our rooms fresh and inviting for all our getaway couples, but during 2010 we decided to give every room and suite at the Castle a more extensive remodeling including removing wallpaper, upgrading to Flat Screen TVs in almost every room, incorporating I-pod docking stations in a few, and completely redecorating to updated colors, rugs and accessories. Since the Castle was designed by an Architect, the amazing patterned hardwood floors and massive quarter sawn oak woodwork are still the focal point of the rooms.  These classic features will always produce the “Wow” factor when guests check in at the Castle, but, remodeling the guest rooms with modern lighting and new paint colors has only made it easier to highlight the quality of the original features and at the same time added appeal and updated functionality to the century-old summer home.  Now, new LED lights shine down on original tile and accentuate the original wood burning fireplaces.  The spacious suites at the Castle now have comfortable sitting areas and table space for enjoying a glass of wine from one of our local wineries or Dinner at the Inn in your room, and, all of them have new Flat Screen TV/DVDs for enjoying our library of movies.  Since the renovations, each of the three Whirlpool/fireplace suites have become a place where our guests spend even more time just hanging out and enjoying their time together.   The two cozy rooms of the Castle on the 3rd floor were designed to provide a cocooning atmosphere and the renovations in both of these focused on adding luxurious fabrics and a feeling of over-the-top comfort so that guests of these rooms feel enveloped in a calm and nurturing space and above the hustle and bustle.
